The Fallacy of Gun Control

http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=14031

The link is to a good article from CATO about armed citizens stopping crime. Have you ever noticed where massacres occur? Schools, colleges, daycare centers: places where people can't or don't carry. Now, tell me how many massacres have occurred at: gun ranges, gun shows, hunting clubs, NRA conventions; I think you get the point.

  1. I could not agree more with this post! I would add that people/society has a false sense of security regarding police and law enforcement. In a crisis situation, I don't want to sit and wait for police to respond. The VA Tech shooting is the perfect example of how things could have been different if someone had been able to carry on campus. My Higher Ed Law professor would wish us luck as we left class at 8pm to walk to our cars. He likened being on an open college campus (with the inability to carry if you have a concealed permit) to being ducks in a barrel- easy targets for someone who wants to cause harm. How many more school shootings have to happen before things/perceptions change?

  2. Excellent paper will circulate among our neighbors. Especially significant with regard to seniors and homeowners.
